Father’s Day Gift Ideas

by Jake Forrest

We all love our dads and Father’s day is a great time to show our love and support. While this holiday is observed on the third week in June in the UsA, it’s actually observed on different days in different nations. While the origins of this holiday are shrouded in mystery, what is certain is that this is a day for dads everywhere to sit back and enjoy.

Naturally it’s a father’s children who should show the most love and care on Father’s Day. One way to make this day meaningful for them and dad is to have them get engaged in making their own gifts rather than store bought goods. There’s nothing like a homemade card complete with crazy crayon drawings to put a smile on dad’s face. Of course put those cards on a breakfast tray and serve him like a king in bed.

In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by promoting male-oriented gifts such as electronics, tools and greeting cards. According to Hallmark, “Father’s Day is the fourth-largest card-sending occasion with nearly 100 million Father’s Day cards expected to be given this year [2008] in the United States. Most greeting cards for guys are whimsical so fathers laugh when they open them. Traditionally, fathers prefer greeting cards that are not too sentimental.

Through different activities and events we make our dad feel very special on the Fathers Day and tell him that “Dad you mean the world to us”. Indulging the sweet daddies with breakfast in bed; gifting out cards, flowers, chocolates ,neckties, shirts, electronic gadgets, stationery items; games and various other activities, get-togethers mark Father’s Day to strengthen the bond between a father and child and are the traditional way of celebrating Father’s Day not only in U. Each June on Father’s Day, families treat Dad to dinner out or a special day of Dad-centered activities.

One really fantastic father’s day gift is an electronic toy like a gps device. This is the perfect gift for the guy who has no sense of direction. Interestingly how GPS units plot a route to an end location can vary widely from unit to unit. Apparently the algorithims used can cause different paths to be mapped even with the same map database is loaded into two different GPS units. Ease of use is probably the most important consideration so you may want to have him use it before you buy it – even if this does take the surprise out of the gift.

Father’s Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad. Father’s Day is celebrated with enthusiasm and gifts galore to reflect on the invaluable role and contribution of fathers in the family. To fathers around the world, we hope your Father’s Day is just the way you like it!
